The Imago dEi Project

“Imago Dei” is Latin for the “Image of God”. It refers to the biblical truth that all humans are made in the likeness of their creator.

The goal of the Imago Dei Project is to provide free family photos to migrant and refugee families in the Chicagoland area. These aren’t just photos - they’re symbols of strength, continuity, and togetherness...

…They honor stories, not labels.

*For the sake of privacy, photos won’t be published publicly unless given explicit permission*

This is a project that has been a product of my mind for quite a while. I never found the time nor circumstances to put it into plan. Now that I am back in the Chicagoland area, post-graduation, I want this is be a special investment.

I’ve always shared a burdened love for the refugee community - those of foreign culture striving to find a new life, a new belonging. I thank my mom for her heart for those who have this experience - as I believe she has passed down this passion to me. I’ve had the privilege to serve with World Relief the past few years as a volunteer. I also had the chance to work with them as a children and youth intern for a summer. Working with refugees brings me the greatest of joys. It’s a reminder of the hospitality I’m called by God to demonstrate.

The political climate of America has jousted the refugee, migrant identity into controversy. The rich stories, life experiences, and character that are dehumanized and disregarded - and at the worst, demonized is what this project aims to uphold.

I look forward to meeting new people, sharing stories, and uplifting God’s creation.
